Lee Miles
Master Instructor
Master Lee Miles is the Master Instructor, owner and founder of Michigan Martial Arts Institute, Inc. Master Lee Miles began Wrestling at age 4 and was a Gold Medalist on the Bloomfield Hills Olympic Wrestling Team by age 7. Lee also began Weapons and Judo training around age 7. Fascination with Bruce Lee and the Martial Arts lead to Black Belts in Traditional Styles such as: Karate, Tae Kwon Do, and Choi Kwang-Do.
Wanting more practical training and realizing ground fighting (grappling) to be a key missing ingredient in the Self-Defense offered by traditional Styles. Master Miles began training in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu under Royce and Relson Gracie in 1991. Adding Jiu-Jitsu to his Wrestling background was the perfect combination for developing effective grappling Self-Defense. Stand-up fighting was clearly dominated by Boxing, Kickboxing, and Thai-Boxing. Again Master Lee Miles trained hard to develop these techniques and understand how they would fit into a fun, safe, yet effective training style.
The result of this research and training is: MKJ - Miles Kickboxing Jiu-Jitsu
Miles Kickboxing Jiu-Jitsu combines Boxing, Kickboxing, Thai-Boxing, Wrestling, and Jiu-Jitsu. Miles Kickboxing Jiu-Jitsu is the product of intense study in the areas of Self-Defense, Body Mechanics, Kinesiology, Health, Safety and Training.
